How much Income Tax will I pay in Ireland this year?

The Income Tax Return due on 31st October 2026 or 18th November 2026 for online filing covers self-assessed income earned in 2025.

For most people it comes down to two rates: 20% on the first slice of your income, and 40% on everything above it. For 2025, that slice (the standard rate cut-off point) is €44,000 for a single person, €48,000 if you qualify for the Single Person Child Carer Credit, and up to €53,000 for a married couple or civil partnership (higher again with a second income).

Rates aren’t the whole story, though. Tax credits come off your bill directly: a single PAYE worker gets a Personal Tax Credit and an Employee Tax Credit worth €2,000 each, which is why most people pay far less than the headline rate suggests. On top of Income Tax, the Universal Social Charge (0.5% to 8%, depending on what you earn) and PRSI (around 4%) are calculated separately and added to your total deductions.

The calculators below use these figures to give you a quick estimate. If your situation includes rental income, self-employment, or anything outside standard PAYE, pick the specific calculator for that below or talk to us about getting it filed properly.
